After the race, and after getting a good long rest, Max shows up at Jackie's door. He has some explaining to do and the longer he waits the worse he feels. Better to get this all cleared up as soon as possible.

"It's me," Max says as he knocks on the door. "Can I come in? I wanted to talk to you about something."

[Not here]

[Sometime in the week after the circus comes to town, Jackie will find a letter shoved under his door, made of a scrap piece of paper, and a longer, folded list.]

Hey, Jackie~

Just wanted to say thank you and sorry for the weekend. It was hot as hell, but I know I was kind of dumb. Thanks for looking after me, I owe you (another!) one!

I was thinking of doing this anyway, but it made me get my arse in gear: here's a proper kink list for you. I wasn't particularly detailed the other day, so I tried to be more so here. Obviously we can talk about it any time, but it's nice to have things written down for references. If anything major changes I'll let you know.

Also, cuz I figure you'll be as excited about this as I am, I have a shower in my room now! If you ever want me to fuck off so you can use it in private, you just have to say. I can make up a key for you so you can use it while I'm out and lock the door behind you if you want (we can check sometime if the door will open when there's a key in it from the inside so I can't accidentally walk in on you). Just let me know! Heaven knows I owe you enough favours!

Well. This is going to be awkward.

Max has a few things to tell Jackie. He's been distant lately, distracted by the new levels his romances with Rowan and Lucas have reached and by all the interesting (and also terrifying) events that have transpired. He probably should have shown up at Jackie's door much sooner. But he'd put it off... And put it off. And now...

He knocks lightly on his Master's door. "Jackie? May I come in? I have something I need to tell you."

A lot of somethings, actually. Where to begin?

[On Christmas morning, Jackie'll find a relatively neatly wrapped gift outside their door. Inside they'll find a framed pencil sketch of themself. It's almost a candid shot; Rowan's drawn the vampire smirking, relaxed in his chair. There's also a voucher made up in Rowan's very best handwriting, with plenty of swirls and gold ink:

[Akeldama knew that he needed to get something for the other vampire - after all, a dance of politeness is what makes co-inhabitation with other supernaturals possible, and technically he's already in Jackie's debt after all the information that they gave him when he arrived. But he's still not quite sure what to make of the strange vampire, or even what gender they are.

So in the end, he went for something that he hopes suits Jackie's tastes, and if not has more than enough material to be adjusted into something that will suit them more. Inside a beautifully wrapped parcel outside his door, they'll find a tea gown, neatly folded, and underneath a note:]

My dearest Jackie,

Wishing you season's greetings, and a happy new year.

Should it not suit or fit, please take it to a tailor and allow me to cover the adjustments for you.

[Max leaves a box sitting in an obvious place just inside the door of Jackie's boutique. Inside the neatly wrapped box is a fashionable pair of pink Leather gloves with big furry cuffs and delicately embroidered patterns on them. Max hopes they are sufficiently fabulous for his Master.

A card accompanies them. It reads:]

Following this conversation with Akeldama, Max wanders over from his Cafe into Jackie's boutique, with an anxious expression on his face. He wants to ask something, desperately needs to ask it, but he isn't sure how Jackie will take it.

"Uh, Jackie? Have you got a minute to talk? Privately?"

Things are still, well, a little bit weird between them but Max is trying his best to be a good and supportive friend to Jackie (despite Jackie not formally saying that's what they are yet). And, in the spirit of that, he's brought the newly-mortal ex-vampire a gift.

"Jackie?" Max calls into their shop. He's pretty sure he saw them in here just a little while ago.

"I brought you something."

Inside a nicely wrapped package is a large metallic water bottle. The fanciest one he could find. Jackie is human now, and that means they need to stay hydrated.
